Behavior Change for Global Upstream Operations

International Integrated Energy Company
Oil & Gas

After a major global Upstream Operations organization overhaul and end-to-end process redesign, we partnered with workers - from executives to field technicians - to strategically drive the behavior changes necessary to support new ways of working.

After a thorough analysis of incremental improvements in Upstream Operations, our client determined that an end-to-end process redesign was essential to achieve their aggressive performance targets. This comprehensive overhaul required introducing new ways of working, expanding skill requirements, and intensifying collaboration, innovation, and real-time decision-making at the field level.

Recognizing the broad, multi-level behavior shifts needed across functions, we partnered closely with the PMO to drive targeted behavior changes at pivotal roles and inflection points in the process. Our approach was structured and multifaceted: we launched a strategic communication plan, developed role-specific training, and implemented scenario-based workshops to help teams practice and reinforce these new behaviors. To ensure measurable impact and long-term sustainability, we also introduced behavior-focused metrics, enabling the organization to monitor progress and sustain momentum effectively.
